Oh, Hockey!

The other night, we were watching 'Rocky IV'. Yes, I let my kids watch it. I realize it might not be what some parents consider 'suitable kid watching material', but there you have it. I let them watch the 'Rocky' movies. We have good, educational discussions too, like why you shouldn't do drugs, what are steroids, what are hormones, etc. So, anyway, I fast forwarded to the good scenes (i.e. the ones where people are having a philosophical discussion, or the ones where people are training or beating on each other). It's pretty enjoyable that way. Sophia was sitting on my lap, enjoying along with the rest of us. At the end, when things aren't looking so good for our hero, we all were like, 'get in there! Hit him in the head! Ya got to get IN there!' (if you remember, the antagonist was this behemoth Russian dude-Dolph Lundgren, who is HUGE and has arms about 3 feet long or something). Then, of course, our famous hero, Rocky, ends up beating the snot out of the opposing force, and the whole crowd goes berserk! As the fight had been progressing, the crowd slowly went from 'booing' Rocky, to chanting, 'Rocky, Rocky...' So now, the whole crowd is chanting his name. Our home viewing audience, of course is chanting too, 'Rocky, Rocky'... Which is when I notice that ONE of us isn't chanting, 'Rocky, Rocky!'. One of us, Sophia, is chanting, 'Hockey, Hockey!' Which is another sport where it's ok to beat on people, but I'm pretty sure that there are no Rocky movies involving hockey pucks. The funny things toddlers say!
